ACCESS TO OPPORTUNITIES IN MEDICINE (ATOM) PROJECT

The ATOM Project aims to promote equity within academic medicine by ensuring all faculty have fair access to career enhancing opportunities. To do this, our team has developed, deployed, and is currently evaluating an evidence-based, scalable intervention called Interrupting Bias in Medicine. We have also developed and launched the Faculty Tasking Tool, a novel technological tool that helps leaders in medicine easily and quickly track how they allocate opportunities to their direct reports, allowing leaders to identify and correct inequities in the distribution of career-building opportunities. Our goal is to retain talented faculty in medicine and improve institutional culture by ensuring fair access to career-advancing opportunities and equitable distribution of non-promotable tasks.

This project is a collaboration between UCSF and UC Law. For more information, go to the UC Law website: https://equalityactioncenter.org/atomproject/
