UCSF’s innovative, collaborative approach to patient care, research and education spans disciplines across the life sciences, making it a world leader in scientific discovery and its translation to improving health.
Lead by Executive Director, MD, and researcher Jim Dilley, the UCSF Alliance Health Project has helped San Francisco residents to protect themselves from HIV and to cope with the psychological and emotional challenges of living with HIV for almost 30 years. Their commitment has not diminished since 2010, when they expanded their mission to include lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) mental health. The mission of the UCSF Alliance Health Project is to support the mental health and wellness of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) and HIV-affected communities in constructing healthy and meaningful lives. AHP offers a broad range of professional and peer-based emotional services at no cost. Some services have income and insurance status limits. Most require an Intake Appointment, which will help them determine which services best meet patient needs.
